Greetings
Some of you would know that I have had ADSD for over 6 years during which time I have not had any botox injections but have preferred to 'practice' various voice improvement strategies based largely on the work of Morton Cooper, Roger Love and Connie Pike. My voice has certainly improved over this time. Six years ago I rated my voice at about 3 out of 10 (10 being optimum) and I now rate my self generally at about 7 out of 10. Sometimes less and sometimes almost 10.
A strategy that improves my voice considerably is related directly to breath control and support. Try this. Take a deep abdominal breath and hold it for at least 3 seconds. During this time allow your lungs (upper chest area) to expand as the air from the diaphragm moves into the upper chest area. Then speak a sentence of choice. Is you voice stronger? More consistent? Less strangled? Less spasms? I found that I can even say difficult sentences like the '...early one morning a man and a woman were ambling along a one mile lane running near Rainy Avenue...' This of course is not a cure but it does result in a significant voice improvement. The effects are initially temporary but with on going commitments to practice it may be possible to habituate the technique and so produce a good voice most of the time.
Give it a try and lets hear if it helps you too. |
